Learning Witchcraft

I am asked about such things more often than one would think after a life of studying, writing about witches, hosting witchcraft podcasts and my own witchcraft. My answer is succinct. Identify the archetype of the witch, who is a witch and how to use a witch. In fact, I have found that the more I work with them, the more complex witches become.

Contrary to popular belief and the strange ideas of ancient writers, most witches are ordinary people. This could be your mother, sister, brother, father, co-worker or even the person delivering your newspaper. For much of Jewish history, witchcraft was regarded as a vice that only women could indulge in.

Witch cults, organized or disorganized, may have horned gods and goddesses, but Western witches are not members of ancient pagan religions, and they are not healers or midwives.

If you want to become a witch and be able to perform magical deeds and do more than just change your life for the people you need, it’s up to you to make the right decisions and stay ahead of the game.

No group is a monolith, and individuals from disenfranchised communities have different views on these issues. Anti-racist and anti-colonial witchcraft requires daily work, and even if you are a little witch, it can last many lives. Just because it is a matter of learning about the colonialist history of witchcraft and how to avoid this practice does not mean that you have to create your own rituals, and there are many Latin American, indigenous and black witches who practice their craft on the Internet with actionable advice, and we are all in it.

Today witches are able to get away with almost everything that was done centuries ago. Unlike modern culture, Jewish culture has reversed most images of evil creatures (vampires, for example, are romantic figures rather than bloodthirsty murderers; Christian culture considers them demonic), and Jewish attitudes toward them have varied in time and geography.
